Runway Roundup: Kate Spade S/S 2015

Mrs. Spade has come a long way from her 'it bags' of the late 90s. I love her nod to Southampton chic with a touch of wit and bold use of colors and prints. Her handbags are still the center piece of her collection but her clothes compliment them so well. I love the over sized heart tote with the classic sailor style dress and the large floral printed crop top and pencil skirt mix perfectly with her striped beach bag. The fish handbag is adorable and I love how it goes with her color blocked shift dress. Again, her footwear is cute and comfortable, a must have for the Spring!

Runway Roundup: Pam & Gela S/S 2015

Part hippy, part rocker chick, the new collection from designers Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor is the perfect California cool girl style look. I love the Gladiator style sandals and the leather fringed jackets. My favorite look is the baby blue tie dyed dress with matching leather jacket. You look like a cloud in the style!

Runwau Roundup: Red Valentino S/S 2015

So playful and also wearable, I love the Red Valentino S/S 2015 collection. The studded sandals show that Birks style shoes will still be en vogue and I love the homage to the American Flag mixed with a leopard print. Polka dots were a huge thing in this collection (pun intended) and I love how they used metal grommets in place of printed fabric to get the same affect. The striped ogranza gown is my favorite look from the collection.

Runway Roundup: Bally S/S 2015

I love what Creative Director Pablo Coppola has done at the 150 year old Bally brand. The luxurious leather goods mixed with the laid back yet tailored separates makes me swoon for this collection. I love the right burgundy win color, my favorite this season. The shoes and handbags, what Bally is known for, look fresh and sleek. This is how I want to dress for Spring 2015.

Totally Moschino Barbie!

The latest Moschino collection by Jeremy Scott has brought me back to my childhood in the most fashionable way possible. I love his throw back to Barbie and all her pink glory. The accessories are to die for - the hanger purse is hilarious! Scott knows how to take something that could be a huge joke and with some wit and sophistication make it runway worthy. Some of the dresses are over the top and some remind me of my Peaches'n'Cream Barbie! Pink is in and Barbie is  hot again!

NYFW: Dirty Hippy: Jeremy Scott Spring 2015

It seems like Jeremy Scott was inspired by Phish fan couture with a touch of candy raver. The Doc Martins, the tie dye and the baby doll style dresses are all amazing but I am not so sure about the plastic bead necklaces or fur trimmed boudoir jackets. The only real hippy-esque aspect is the leather patchwork pieces and the long flowing hair. Jeremy Scott just might have created the latest looks to be seen at next years Electric Forest Festival.

NYFW: Prim and Pretty: Michael Kors Spring 2015

I really loved Michael Kors' Spring 2015 collection. It was light and fresh and definitely not as contrived as his usual mall store fashions. The light suede coat and ensemble had a great safari feel and I loved his use of florals - light and elegant. My favorite sihlouette is the deep V neckline dress he did in floral and all black. So chic.

Red Carpet Round Up: 2014 Emmys

It seemed like Red was the New Black on the red carpet at last night's Emmy Awards. My two favorite ladies in red were Uzo Abuda in Christian Siriano and Claire Danes in Givenchy. Ethereal beiges and silvers were also a major DO on the red carpet as seen on Taylor Schilling in Zuhair Murad, Michelle Dockery in Rosie Assoulin and Kiernan Shipka in Antonio Berardi. My favorite silver gal was Amy Pohler in a slinky silver dress by Theia. And two ladies who marched to their own fashion drums; Zooey Deschanel in Oscar de la Renta and Lizzy Caplan in Donna Karan Atelier.

Red Carpet Round Up: 2014 VMAs

This Sunday we tuned in to see who wore what on the red carpet at the 2014 MTV VMAs. Aside from some major duds there were some surprising wows! First, Nicki Minaj, who looked horrible on stage in a dress that didn't zip up, was majorly glam on the red carpet in a Saint Laurent sequin mini dress. Kesha has turned over a new leaf and her sophisticated Johanna Johnson gown is still funky with her multi colored hair. The true queen of the VMAs, Gwen Stefani, looked age appropriate (she is a mother of 3!) in skinny pants and a matching hot pink bustier top from her label L.A.M.B. Miley rocked leather separates from Alexandre Vauthier Couture while Sarah Hyland vamped it up in dark lips and a cut out gown by Kaufman Franco. My favorite look of the night was Jessie J in an ethereal vintage Halston with a plunging neckline.

Sincerely Stylish: Sincerely Jules

I've been a long time fan of the style blog SincerelyJules by Julie Sarinana. Her style is so effortlessly fresh and fashionable without being overwhelmed by trends or gimmicks. I love her mix of high and low pieces and she never looks over done. I covet her laid back look and perfectly ombre hair.

MMVA Red Carpet 2014

The Much Music Video Awards were this weekend and the red carpet was teeming with lovely ladies in amazing outfits. Chloe Grace Moretz wowed in a sheer black lace dress with a nude liner while Nikki Yanofsky kept her cool in a black and white leopard print body con knit dress. Shenae Grimes and Fefe Dobson showed us they wear the pants; Shenea in leather skinnies with a cute blazer and Fefe in a vintage Texas Tuxedo. Lauren Vandervoort's dress was my favorite of the night, the simple lines and embellished baby blue of her 2nd Skin Co. dress was matched perfectly with a cute collar and silver pumps. Kiernan Shipka's Marni dress was my second favorite, the asymmetrical peplum and floral beading made it sweet, sexy and age appropriate. Much Music VJs Liz Trinnear wore an emerald green crop top and skirt from H&M and Phoebe Dykstra rocked the MMVA red carpets in a top and skirt by Canadian designer Cara Cheung.

Creepy but Good: Quentin Jones X Miley Cyrus 'Tongue Tied'

I have to say, I really like the 'Tongue Tied' video by Quentin Jones and starring Miley Cyrus. I originally saw snippets of the music video at the Miley Cyrus show and was deeply disturbed by what was on the jumbo screen. Perhaps it was the thousands of tween aged girls surrounding me that made me the most uncomfortable but something about the experience felt so wrong. However, after watching the longer version, in the comfort of my own home, I am able to see the artistic quality in the video and I actually have to say, I love it. The creepy musical element matched with a sexy and androgynous Miley complete with the very cool effects makes this art video a must see.

The weather is just starting to warm up and while I am not completely ready to throw off my jacket, I am excited for summer. I love shopping on DistractionsAspen.com and here is my wishlist of perfect summer pieces.

The Tonya Hawkes clutch is perfect for all the weddings and events I have this summer . It has a very tribal feel which I love and will go great with my Marni for H&M pieces. Shebee's jewelry is a mix of my two favorite things, diamonds and skulls. The pieces have a little Damian Hirst feel and I love how they come in cool neutral greys and whites. Another little pop of skull I'm loving right now are these Mara and Mine skull foot loafers. The slip-on is still so on trend and these babies are casual and cool with a pair of skinny jeans. I love FREE CITY sweats, they are perfect for lounging around the house or cottage. The California Dreamer hoodie would be great over a swimsuit when I'm a little chilled or thrown over jeans on a cool summer's eve. Lastly, I am obsessed with camo this season and can't get enough of ALM's cool and quirky camo shirt jacket. That is my summer mantra; Relax, Take it Easy!

The 2014 Met Ball: Worst Dressed

And when she was bad she was very, very bad........

The red carpet at the Met Ball last night was rampant with bad looks. From Elizabeth Olsen's figure skating dress to the diarrhea on Katie Holmes's putrid colored gown the red carpet was a mine field of fashion don'ts. Aside from a bad dress, bad posture can also turn a good look bad, case and point Lea Michelle. It looks like she is pregnant! Rita Ora's dress came from a catalog for slutty prom dresses while Zoe Saldana appears to have a bedspread wrapped around her waist while wearing a bathing suit. The worst of the worst is Sandra Lee. WTF is she wearing??? Sorry (not sorry) to say, those two poufs look like balls. There, I said it.

The 2014 Met Ball: Best Dressed

The Met ball was last night and it honored Charles James, America's first couturier. The red carpet was filled with celebrities in what should have been extravagant gowns and dresses but in reality was a bit meh.

My favorite looks from the night were Emma Stone in Thakoon, Georgia May Jagger in Thierry Mugler, Allison Williams in Oscar de la Renta and Toni Garnn in Topshop. Honorable mention to the Olsens, I loved Ashley's vintage Chanel gown. I can't even talk about why or how Sandra Lee was there. And what was she wearing??? It was insane.

Victoria Beckham rocked her own design and Brie Larson took a risk that made her Prada pants and shift one of the best looks of the night.

Sophia Webster X J. Crew

The next big name in shoe wear, Sophia Webster, has done an amazing collaboration with J. Crew of affordable pieces with her signature style. I love her whimsical use of pattern and the scalloped edge of her pumps adds something special to a black and white court shoe. I can't wait to get my hands on a pair of these babies.

Holly Dyment Jewelry @ DistractionsAspen.com

Formerly an interior decorator, Toronto native Holly Dyment is not shy when it comes to color. Her bold use of it in her jewelry breathes new life into those wearing it. I love her tongue-in-cheek pieces featuring skulls, lips and eyes which are balanced by her intricate designs and use of precious materials making her jewelry perfect for everyday but fancy enough for the evening. Her rings are bold and beautiful; I'm captivated by the large oval skull ones and all her pieces are set in 18K gold. Head over to DistractionsAspen.com to shop the collection.
