Kiss Kate

I love Kate Moss in the Versace S/S 09 campaign. Gisele is in the campaign too but she doesn't hold a candle to Ms. Moss.

Spot On.

I can't put my finger on it, but there is something about the 3.1 Phillip Lim Gwen bag that I love. I'm not normally a person who likes polka dots but these almost look like an animal print. I wonder if it is named after Gwen Stefani? If so, I like this bag even more.....

Breakfast at Tiffany's

One if the best movies of all time, Breakfast at Tiffany's starring the beautiful Audrey Hephburn as the madcap Holly Golightly is fashion perfection beginning to end. That little black dress, those strands of pearls, the oversized sunglasses, the bouffant, TIFFANY'S! Holly Golightly is even a fashionista in her sleep. The classic scene of her waking up in her apartment after a long night out is one of the most famous scenes in film history.

Below is the clip of the scene, skip ahead to 5:10

Ever dream about being Holly Golightly? Well now you can wake up like her! The classic eyelash sleep eyemask is available at Fred Flare for $14.

You look good when you wear it well.

Reese Witherspoon is known for her classic style but lately she has been taking some fashion chances, Rodatre fashion chances in particular. She wore a dress from their Spring 2009 collection to be a presenter at the Oscars this year and to the L.A. premiere of her new cartoon movie, Monsters vs. Aliens, Reese wowed the crowds in a hot, metallic mini from the Fall 2009 collection. Do you think she pulled off the look?

Try the Trend

Love that fabulous Dior floral ring but think that the price is ridiculous? So do I! However, if you still feel the need for floral jewelry Fred Flare's Flower Ball Ring fits the trend and the $20 price tag sounds better than $20,000. So go ahead, test the waters and don't feel bad if it just isn't you.

Radio/New/Joy

Here is a little piece of heaven. Radiohead covering 'Ceremony' by New Order/Joy Division. I am usually against covers because most of them compromise the integrity of the song and confuse young minds that don't know the original version. However, in this case, Radiohead are paying homage to New Order/Joy Division since their version is almost exactly like the original only with Thom Yorke vocals, which are always amazing.

I know that this post is not fashion related at all but I'm having a down day and listening to my favorite music is the best medicine.

Lust for Leather

I love how designers are using leather in such creative ways. The leather T and dress are available at Urban Outfitters and the Horace leather jacket and tank are available at Oak.

WTF?

I posted the NYLON February cover shoot video with Kristen Stewart because there is just something off about it. Is it just me or does she look and sound completely bored the entire time? Her answers lack any genuine feeling and she doesn't even look excited to be wearing those amazing clothing and accessories. WTF is her problem? I guess Dan Levy is right, she is a bitch.

MODEL PROFILE: LARA STONE

In a world where the waif look of Kate Moss and the baby face of Jessica Stam rule the runway and pages of fashion magazines it is hard to stand out among all the look- alikes. Lara Stone is the exception that is changing the way we look at models. Walking the runways of Isabel Marant, Balmain, Prada, Louis Vuitton and many more, this in demand model stands apart from others in her industry by having the body of a glamazon and a face that can pull off any look; baby faced, sultry, sexy, harsh, editorial and commercial. Rocking a healthy body, Lara Stone's unusual facial features are what gives her a real edge. Full lips that look amazing painted red, piercing eyes that can look dramatic and vulnerable at the same time and her calling card, a gap in her two front teeth. Gracing the covers and editorial pages of French Vogue, Japanese Vogue and i-D magazine, along with mugging it in the Givenchy and Gaultier campaigns, Lara Stone is one to watch.

STAM in NUMERO TOKYO MARCH 09

Jessica Stam is currently one of the biggest international models and has the amazing ability to make everything and anything look fabulous. I love this photoshoot because up close Stam looks like a 12 year old and has such a vulnerability but still works the camera and the clothes. I also love now vibrant the colors are, even in the black and white shot you can tell that the dress is bursting with colors.

Close But No Cigar.......

The new issue of Vanity Fair includes several shots recreating the magic that is West Side Story. Starring Camilla Bell (Maria), JLo (Anita), Rodrigo Santoro (Bernardo) and Ben Barnes (Tony) the spread celebrates the return of West Side Story to Broadway. While the images are well executed I can't help but cringe at JLo trying to portray an 20 year old Rita Moreno. Camilla Bell is beautiful but there is something lost in her expression. Besides, no one can top Natalie Wood.

Photobucket

I have included a clip of the infamous scene that Vanity Fair recreated. No movie before or after has portrayed falling in love so accurately; the world turns foggy and you can only focus on each other. Beautiful.

Katherine Sturgis Jewelry: Re-Worked Bling

I recently came into contact with the amazing jewelry designer, Katherine Sturgis. Re-working chainlink bracelets with silk thread, leather and rhinestones and stringing together several vintage crystal necklaces a la Tom Binns (but without the wallet breaking prices), Katherine's pieces have that on-of-a-kind appeal that so many fashionistas are searching for. Ranging from $115 to $700, each peice is hand made to order and come in a variety of colors. I have already picked up 2 bracelets and one necklace for myself and people are constantly asking me where I got them from.

Right now items are only available through her website and take 3-4 weeks to be made. Patience is a virtue and when it comes to these beautiful creations 3 weeks or so are well worth the wait.

Fashion Face-Off: "The City"

Tonight is the finale of "The City" and in honor of it being a great season filled with laughs, tears and cat fights galore, I have decided to have Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo go head to head in a fashion face-off showdown. I have also analyzed their individual styles and compiled some of the essentials needed to recreate their looks.

Whitney Port:

The laid back California girl might have moved to the Big Apple but she still dresses like a West Coaster. Taking major fashion risks, Whitney loves to wear sandals, shorts and sundresses. A major vintage wearer, Port has adopted a rocker chic vibe into her daily style, possibly due to her on screen romance with Tamarama front man, Jay.

Photobucket

Whitney's style essentials: Rocker heels, bold printed dresses, bright colored handbags, boho chic jewelry and a motorcycle jacket.

Photobucket

Olivia Palermo:

This 'social' sticks to her Upper East Side style roots by dressing the part to a T. Decked out in designer duds and never taking too many fashion chances, Palermo sticks to the basics and always tops it off with a black blazer. Perpetually ready for a photo-op, Olivia usually wears her hair in a simple bun for formal affairs and in soft curls for every day. Her go to bag is an elegant clutch and we all know she loves her Manolos.

Photobucket

Olivia's style essentials: sleek cocktail dresses, mega bling jewelry, designer accessories, cinch waist belts and fitted blazers.

Marie Antoinette

I will never tire of this movie. The colors, the music, Versailles. I don't even think about the historical inaccuracy and that I can't really stand Kirsten Dunst. Give me a movie with beautiful scenery, fabulous costumes and a New Wave soundtrack featuring New Order and I will be your slave for life.

Tommy Ton, the genius behind JakandJil.com, shot the new Lane Crawford Spring 2009 campaign and has also been updating their blog with his amazing pictures and quirky quotes. Since fashion month has come to a close, I thought the best way to relive the magic was through Tommy's exquisite photos.
