'Cool Shit to Wear Around Your Neck'

Toronto based jewelry line, Cement, is one of my favorite go-tos for casual and understated pieces that go with everything that I wear everyday. Literally, I wear them everyday, layered together, with other necklaces or one alone as a statement piece. They go with everything and since all styles are unisex you can share with your significant other.
Since it's inception in 2008 Cement has put out 2 stellar collection, collaborated with COOL CATS Crew and Ed Banger Records and has been photographed on the neck of teen heartthrob, Justin Bieber.

Fall Perfection: Tibi Fall 2010

Tibi's Fall 2010 collection has everything I would want for my fall wardrobe. Military style jackets, buckled belts, the perfect combination of navy plaids, flannel grays and maroons with just a touch of sparkle and femininity. The best part is they featured every runway model in the summer's hottest shoe, the clog, and adapt it for the fall season with heathered tights. This collection makes me yearn for the changing of leaves.....

Fashion Face-off: The Hills vs. The City
In honor of the premieres of The Hills on Tuesday night and The City on Wednesday night I have decided to do a Fashion Face-off between Kristin Cavallari and Whitney Port. While their styles are very different they both have a look that I can only describe as 'California Cool'.
Kristin:

Kristin likes to keep it simple opting for black at night and jeans for day. She is spot on 'California Cool' for her daytime dress but by night, her boring black falls short of anything spectacular. I just don't think that Kristin is that into fashion past a pair of Louboutins or the Alex Wang 'Coco' bag. Never really taking a fashion chance, Cavallari's style is nothing special.
Whitney:

Whitney loves to top her looks off with a jacket. To her 'jacket' is synonymous with 'working girl' style and for someone who has worked for WWD, Teen Vogue and Elle Magazine, Whitney's work style is appropriate and fashionable. For daytime, Port is not afraid of prints often leaning towards the ikat/aztec types in dayglo colors. She manages to work classic styles like the motorcycle jacket and the striped bateau top in a fashionable way but how hard can it be when you are 5'11" with legs that go on forever? Whitney's style has evolved over the past few years and it is refreshing to see her take on the design world with her own line, Whitney Eve.
Make sure to watch the premieres in the 10 Spot on MTV Canada, followed by the Aftershow.

Style Study: Joanna Hillman
No one puts it together like Harper's Bazaar's Joanna Hillman. She always gets it right in my books, whether she is combining a 3.1 Phillip Lim lace dress with a mini moto or completing her outfits with the perfect jacket. Her style is feminine with a rockers edge; my favorite look is the acid wash denim dress with the motorcycle boots.

Caroline Sieber: A Style Study

Accountant turned stylist, Caroline Sieber has a unique sense of style that she describes as a "youthful reinvention" of her style icon, Jane Birkin. Regularly photographed by fashion photogs, Sieber was handpicked by Karl Lagerfeld himself to be muse and ambassador to the House of Chanel, a most coveted position.
Sieber takes her personal style in step, never wearing anything too trendy and when in doubt opting for hard edge accents as apposed to soft girlie touches. Mixing leather and Chanel boucle, her style has an androgynous feeling that is naturally off set by her doe-eyed features and raven locks. Playing off her beauty and marching to her own fashion drum, Sieber's style is one to take note of.

Miroslava Mikheeva-Duma: A Style Study

Miroslava, or Mira to her friends, is a fashion editor at Harper's Bazaar Russia and one of my fashion inspirations. From a very wealthy family, Mira wears the latest runway fashions and word on the street is she doesn't borrow, she buys. Just looking at the outfits above Mira's closet is on my list of those to ravage and raid.
Considered somewhat of a style chameleon, Mira can flip flop between sweet ingenue, boho babe and rocker chic in the blink of a eye. High hem lines and girlish looks keep her style youthful and fun. I covet her style and mini leopard jacket.

Must-Have: Statement Necklace

The statement necklace is a must-have for the Spring/Summer 2010 season. Take a t-shirt to the next level, up the ante on a little black dress, transform your everyday look. These gorgeous necklaces by Fenton/Fallon fit my personal taste but there is a statement necklace out there for everyone whether your look is punky, boho, modern, classic, romantic, etc.
Experiment with cheap versions from H&M and Urban Outfitters or make your own.

Fenton/Fallon, a jewelry line well known for hard core pieces made of jumbled chains and spikes has teamed up with J. Crew to create a selection of special edition pieces. Only available through J. Crew, the mini collection is very much rocker meets prepster. Just my style.
