SATC2 Fashion - SJP

Photobucket

'Sex and the City' 2 premiered in North America this week. Sarah Jessica Parker's premiere fashion was quite fabulous and I had to report on a few other looks she wore in the past few weeks. I especially love her Nicolas Kirkwood electric blue heels.

J. Crew x Behati Prinsloo

Photobucket

Photobucket

My favorite clothing line, J. Crew, recently featured my favorite model, Behati Prinsloo, in their June 2010 catalog. I love how they mix menswear with girlie accents and Behati is so f#*king cute that she can pull any look off.

These looks are on my inspiration list for Summer fashion.

Book Review: 'Classy' by Derek Blasberg

Photobucket

"Blasberg's compiled everything he's learned from Hollywood, fashion, and high society in Classy, a guide to becoming a true lady." --ELLE

"Fashion writer...Derek Blasberg has taken note of both good and bad behavior while hanging with a high-profile set." --New York Magazine

"What's a gal to do in this age of tacky pseudo-celebrity? Enter...Blasberg, whose new book...may just be the saving grace." --Teen Vogue

Photobucket

Blasberg's highly praised, very hilarious handbook will provide everything an aspiring lady needs to know about fashion, socializing, dating, and etiquette. Witty content and easy to read diagrams point out the do's and don'ts of being a lady and how to spot a tramp. Inspired by Tiffanys Table Manners for Teens, Classy's cover is the perfect shade of robins egg/Tiffany blue and inside you might learn a thing or two about actual Class.

Opening Ceremony Tokyo

Photobucket

Photobucket

Located in the Shibuya district of Tokyo the Opening Ceremony 8 floor conceptual "mini mall" store is the brands first venture outside of the USA and is a must-see destination when in Tokyo. Carrying Opening Ceremony, Alexander Wang, The Row, Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Boy/Band of Outsiders and many more the store also has a fully functioning Kiehls boutique on the 3rd floor.

The interior decor is very Americana and features Victorian architecture, Native American and Santa Fe influences and Modern American touches. Be sure to wander around all 8 floors and get a feel for the truly trippy surroundings. Animals that are display cases, psychedelic mannequins and hidden nooks and crannies are all part of what makes this store so fabulous.

While OC Tokyo is a sight to be seen be sure to shop in the Shibuya area for a more Japanese style experience. Parco I, II and III department stores all feature Japanese designers and the Shibuya 9 department store is 9 floors of strictly Japanese street clothes and fashion accessories. Also, don't forget to hit Tokyu Hands - the be all and end all store for everything under the sun - a shoppers mecca!

Sydney Fashion Week: Dion Lee S/S 2010

Photobucket

Photobucket

Australian designer Dion Lee showed a flawless collection yesterday at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. A blend of light purples, blues and blacks, Lee took inspiration from Rorschach inkblots for the uniquly printed dresses. The draped and knotted pieces were reminiscent of Burberry Prorsum's Fall 2010 collection and the young and fresh looks are on par with those of Proenza Schouler and Marios Schwab. On the rise, Lee's show was one of the best of Aussie Fashion Week.

Style Study: Taylor Tomasi Hill

Photobucket

Photobucket

Starting out at Teen Vogue as the Accessories Director, Taylor Tomasi Hill is now the Style & Accessories Director for Marie Claire magazine.

I've been a fan of Taylor's style for a very long time, ever since Tommy Ton photographed her years ago at Fashion Week in the most amazing pair of strappy motorcycle boots (pictured above). Ever since I have taken note of her evolving style going from girlie with a rocker edge to full on Japanese influenced complete with drop crotch pants - a look I lean towards personally.

Always conscious of the power of the "statement boot", Tomasi Hill's bright red hair is her true calling card and most fashionable accessory. I love her eclectic mix of fur, leather and chic designer pieces. I especially love her Rick Owen's jacket and jumbo Chanel 2.55.

Mr. Joe Zee

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Mr. Joe Zee is the Creative Director of Elle Magazine. Pulling the magazine out of a previous slump, Zee has helped put Elle back in its place atop the fashion magazine scale.

Starting out as a stylist to the biggest stars (Madonna!) and working for Allure and W magazine, Zee went on to start the ill-fated Vitals magazine - a high end shopping mag geared towards men. After being taped for Elle in 2007 Zee has reinvigorated the magazine and has appeared on several fashion television shows; Project Runway, Stylista and most notably his recurring role on MTV's The City

Red Carpet Update: The 2010 Met Ball

Long gowns were still a constant on the Ball's red carpet however an understated look overshadowed the usual ornate gowns. Simple Calvin Klein and Grecian/wrap styles made a their way down the red carpet and wowed as much as any poufy gown.

Photobucket

Short cocktail dresses were all over the red carpet. Blake Livley in Marchesa, Liu Wen in Naeem Khan and Constance Jablonski in Jason Wu, Bar Rafaeli in Rag & Bone and Carey Mulligan in Miu Miu. Short hemlines are very of-the-moment and walking the red carpet in a mini is no longer a fashion faux pas.

Photobucket

When I found out that MIA was wearing Alexander Wang for Gap and Jamie Bochert and Kirsten Dunst were wearing Rodarte for Gap I had to wonder "which Gap exactly will get these and how much will they cost?" How can they be for the Gap if they are only going to have one of each in the Manhattan store for a couple thousand dollars? Why even pretend?

Photobucket

And now for the Best Dressed (in my opinion) for the Met Ball 2010; Rachel Weisz looked amazing in shocking pink Oscar de la Renta, Alexa Chung worked the menswear look in 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rachel Bilson was beautiful and busty in a Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer runway look and Chloe vamped it up in lacy yet racy Proenza Schouler.
